![]() Organizing always seems like such a good idea.....especially when I'm flipping through design magazines and see "the perfect" laundry room, a sumptuously sexy closet, or a very well-detailed office space. It looks like pure magic and I almost always wish that my fairy godmother would wave her magic wand and this, too, could be MINE. But alas, it never seems to happen quite that way. This time around, I devised a plan allowing for the least amount of anxiety or overwhelming WTF (Why The Fuss, that is) moments that always seem to happen when doing work on my own space. Before getting too deep into a design and overwhelming yourself, sit down and brainstorm on how you want your new closet to look and function. What items do you need to store? What do you need easy access to? Currently, what is it about your closet/workspace/laundry room/etc. that causing you to be less productive with your day? If you're not sure....take a few days and as you go through your daily routine take note of what you wish would function more fluidly. I promise that this will pay off in the end versus just dashing into a DIY Pinterest project. ![]() As I can attest, the idea of organizing, cleaning, and re-developing your office space can be stressful and seem like more work than its worth. You may feel a bit wonky at some point during your project if you choose to DIY (we admittedly have and we do this for a living!), but remember that there are oodles of professionals (ahem) who can help you, give you pointers, and do so at a reasonable rate. All you have to do is ask. It's really just that easy. Alternatively, if you do a quick web search, you will find many blogs on DIY closets, tutorials from the Container Store, or Inspired Organization for nearly ANY space of your life. Its borderline amazing the things available to us at the click of a few buttons that can aid us in becoming a more successful and time efficient wizard. Here at All Things Esque, we often get caught up in the numerous projects we're working on and let our work spaces take the brunt of a hectic week. With day-to-day life, work, and our continuously growing business, we have acquired more supplies, more files and geez-Louise, have we collected more receipts. We love what we do and are always striving to work smarter, not harder. That’s why we have decided to reorganize our "creative" closet to be as dope as hell! Check out some of these spaces that we have found ultra inspiring for our closet:
Have organization tips or questions? Please feel free to share and ask-- We love coming up with creatively functional solutions and learning new tips along the way!

"Fashions fade, but Style is Eternal." So when talking about current or up-and-coming trends we tread lightly and always keep in mind the famous quote of Yves Saint Laurent. We also pride ourselves on living in the moment as much as humanly possible (great goal, riiiiight?) and designing for now not for "someday." None the less, today we are looking forward. With only a few moths left of 2015 (gasp!--where did the time go?!?) we thought we’d share some of the trends we’re seeing for 2016 (if for nothing else, so that you can get your holiday wish list in order, of course!). When adhering to or adopting new trends (even if only partially) keep in mind that not all trends are for everyone nor will they look good with your personal design style. So pick and choose what works for you!--even if it goes against what the trends are forecasting. Well-curated personal style is ALWAYS preferred over trends that aren’t well suited for you or your space! Here’s a snippet of what we’ve been seeing for 2016: Outdoor to IndoorThis trend has been growing for sometime. Expanding on flower arrangements and the occasional shell collection, decorating with natural elements, has ridden on the tail coats of the whole sustainability movement. My favorite aspect of this progression has been the explosion of living walls. Perfect for decor in the kitchen and/or bathroom. Living walls are integral to well-being and imperative to urban settings....especially if you like to cook with fresh herbs! Local + Artisan GoodsBe inspired by local finds and globally crafted goods. All types of fiber arts (tassels, macrame, crocheting, weaving) are in. Mixing vintage and artisanal items with main-stream goods can offer a unique feel to your home and support your community or global artists...just ensure you're buying from the artists and not a knock-off. Stones, Minerals, + RocksThe desire for natural textures and finishes such as natural stone and a variety of woods juxtaposed against a traditional backdrop can create a modern and fresh home style. While polished geodes have been all the rage, minerals, like this white quartz countertop are taking over. Metals + MetallicsMidcentury Mod with brass, gold and metallic finishes are popular right now for interiors and in the fashion industry. The retro bling of the 50's and 70's are back and I'm loving it. Dramatic ColorsBold and deeply hued colors energize a a space and give a nod to eccentric street style, while maintaining opulent elegance. Exotic, vibrant, over-the-top, impactful contemporary spaces are all the rage in high-end design right now and moving forward.
In the end, updating your space can be oodles of fun!---keep in mind that you want to stay true to yourself and your style, even amidst swoon-worthy trends. If you're in love with a trend that doesn't suit your current decor style and have a budget large enough to COMPLETELY update your decor style, by all means, gimme-a-call and I can help you with this! (Srsly, though.) Otherwise, bringing in "trends" that clash with your current decor will only fight with and hurt your (insert living space here). After-all, "Fashions fade, but Style is Eternal." |
